Trying to find peat free potting soil ),other garden soil mixes, very dissappointed at how pervasive it is!! If anyone is looking for an income generating venture (hopefully cooperative), there is room in "the market" for peat free potting soil!!!

Lots of us folx out here wanting to plant food, medicine, fibers, but still too tied (manacled) to #Megamachine #BullshitJobs to build soil, make compost from scratch. Peat free potting soil would help transition a lot!

@BrambleBearSnoring Charles Dowding does a lot on easy composting. And since a lot of it is year round, it isn't one of those things that pileup (sorry) in all the springtime chores.

I sift decomposed wood chips and add to worm compost /castings for potting soil.

But, yes, main point of pervasiveness of bagged soils and peat moss is too true.

@RoberttheReader My goal is to eventually be able do that. For all of us who want to to be able to do that. But the transition from today, for folx who work disspiriting, draining jobs, who may have limiting health issues, and want to plant a few things, to living lives in communities where that is possible, is tricky.

Anyone in Maine want to start a compost and soil coop? A plant and tree nursery?

@BrambleBearSnoring yes, we do need far more local organization ; often there's little now beyond seed sharing libraries.
In US, many /most universities have ag extension services with a lot of expertise and contacts for gardeners.
