Hot (?) take: the uncritical recommendation of meditation is bad, and has caused me personal harm.
Meditation can increase certain types of depression and anxiety, it can increase suicidal ideation, and it can cause psychosis, dissociation, depersonalisation and derealization. This doesn't mean these people are "doing it wrong" (like with a free app).
Meditation should not be recommended indiscriminately, and if people experience adverse effects they should definitely nót be told to try again.
