Almost up... sun-3/280 booting but not mounting /home or allowing login yet... (Realized my server rack is of the exactly appropriate age. Ha ha.)

@davefischer Is that really 4 tape drives on there (st0..3) ?
I'm also surprised at the bwtwo0 res - I thought they were always 1152x900.
@penguin42 Data structures allocated to the scsi driver? I don't have any tape drives attached. 1152x900 has something to do with the exact size of that much memory, I think? So a B&W display has no reason to use it? Dunno. A long time ago I had an... SS2? on my desk acting as an X terminal, with a greyscale CRT. That was great. Probably 1152x900.
@davefischer Oh interesting; yeh long long time since I've booted SunOS 4.x
@davefischer I'm happy to see that Salome is guarding the connection machine.
@davefischer Is that SunOS 4.1.1 with or without Update 1?
@mthompson No idea. Still looking for FDDI driver.
@davefischer The hell is that Ethernet port? 😁 I've used coax connectors, and RJ45, but never that ...
@duncan_bayne AUI. A transceiver plugs into that, which converts to 10BT (RJ45) or thinwire (coax), or fiber optics, etc. OR... a cable from that to a vampire tap which clamps onto "thickwire" ethernet. Early 80s. (Vampire taps are crazy. You DRILL into a big fat cable and clamp onto it. !!!)
@davefischer Oh, wow! Yeah that's before my time. My first networking experience was with IBM token ring. High school had partnered with IBM, who'd provided a stack of PCjx machines and an IBM 5170 as a server. They were old by the time I was using them in the early 1990s.

@marcin_mfm @davefischer *Wow*. I'm never going to complain about dealing with Cat-6 again 😁
