Some old photos of my home computer, late 1999 / early 2000. Pretty sure that's a vt340 on the desk next to the Tek. (Finally switched to X a year or so after this.) First gen RS/6000 running AIX, and a headless VAXstation running Ultrix. (Had to boot off tape in each case to install the OS!)
And a Sun-3/080 chassis. Not the same 3/080 chassis I have now...
This is the #HP #16702a logic analyzer restoration thread. It covers cleaning up pcbs against corrosive glue, replacing the harddrive and cleaning the device and case alltogether (ita extremely sticky)
A more cohesive story will eventually land on https://museum.dantalion.nl
Special thanks to @tubetime and @CuriousMarc for the inspiration over the years!
Tony Hoare passed away.
This quote stuck with me since I first read it as a teen. It sparked a decade-long obsession with simplicity, later expanded by Rich Hickey's Simple vs Easy.
"I conclude that there are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies."

"Sorry, I got dragged out of the office this afternoon. "
Almost up... sun-3/280 booting but not mounting /home or allowing login yet... (Realized my server rack is of the exactly appropriate age. Ha ha.)
