I babysit 2 Unifi controllers. Started poking around to determine why neither of them show an update available despite being several revs below the one just released to address the CVE and it turns out that hxxps://www.ui.com/downloads/unifi/debian now redirects to something ... that is not an apt repository, nor a 404, so apt concludes (silently) that no updates are available. Ubnt dumping the repo is bad enough, but apt should tell me it didn't actually check the repo correctly.
worse still - Ubnt support told me when I asked how exactly I'm supposed to upgrade with no apt repo that Unifi Network is legacy and that I need to upgrade to Unifi OS https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/34210126298775-Self-Hosting-UniFi

Somewhere i have a box of unifi gear that got lost in a move. I've since switched to TP-Link Omada and I'm pretty happy with it. Ubiquiti products may still be good, but i won't be going back.

@bruce I've been happy with the stuff after using it at work, got some for home, and have recommended it to some other folks looking for pro-sumer stuff. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that they found a way to enshittify a good product and communicate it as poorly as possible to boot.
@wesgeorge
Yeah, same. I was very happy with my unifi network, and I'm sad to see the direction they've taken in recent years.

@bruce @wesgeorge Thirded. #Ubiquiti have a customer base of reasonably technical people who paid prosumer prices for prosumer products, and seem to want to hassle us into buying their management console / cloud subscription on top.

I won't be buying or recommending #Unifi kit in future.

@diffrentcolours @bruce @wesgeorge I am happy with it. Using it at smaller to mid size companies as well at some private properties. Hardware is very reliable and the controllers update themselves automatically. Yes the linux one I got it is some work, but I know to handle it so no big deal (imho)
