I love this framing from Matteo Collina (excerpt from his newsletter), about who owns and is responsible for AI generated code. Print and stick on your wall.

As Kagen likes to say, "yeah, that's why we have litigation." This is an argument that gets you in the courthouse door, not an argument that proves the point. The issue everyone is having (and that keeps them talking past one-another) is the workflow and resulting quality both fluxuate from user to user and seem different with different #AI tools.   ðŸ¤·

There is something to the "vibe coded code sucks" side because they have experience with inferior code made using these tools. If someone is struggling with how to structure something and asks for an example from an #LLM that's not a terrible idea in terms of code quality, but remember the #IntellectualProperty rights are ruined for the whole project when you do. I'm willing to believe we'll get somewhere useful for everyone in a few years, but I'm not convinced we're there today.
