I think soft-serve seems like a neat git server. it has a TUI over SSH, as opposed to the more familiar web interfaces of most others.

and I realize this is kind of like Intentionally Not What Soft Serve Does, but if I choose to host it, I'd probably want some kind of web interface (it's really nice being able to send a URL to a specific location in a file!!!) and I'd probably want to have some kind of actions. I notice they have these "repo webhooks" to notify an external service upon e.g. a push. but that's very clearly not a full CI system like Forgejo Actions; I'd need an external one.

so, does anyone have any recommendations for:

- a generic git web interface that works well with something like soft-serve
- a generic git CI system that works well with something like soft-serve

I realize with these wants i'd be way better off just like, using Forgejo. it has both of these built in. but I think it'd be somewhat more fun to cobble together something with three different pieces of software that weren't necessarily made for each other. that's my idea of entertainment.
@sodiboo it does seem like what you want is just forgejo, yes...
@ROllerozxa @sodiboo I really should add that to @OS1337 's Wishlist because #SoftSefve looks like a nifty tool for a #CLI / #TUI-based #distro to have…

@sodiboo seems like their is a Co-authored-by Claude somewhere in that repo
@sodiboo what do you think about the developers openly embracing AI code gen? I went through their repos recently and one of their tools is an agentic coding tool ("crush"). wouldn't surprise me if their other stuff which I've loved so far, now contained vibecoded parts.
@0 honestly, I did not know this before posting. I just randomly remembered this git server. yeah that's a bummer. I still think soft-serve looks neat. but this puts a sour taste in my mouth. soft serve ice cream isn't supposed to taste sour :(
@sodiboo yeah this mouse has definitely considered running softserve before and it likes using their tools gum and glow, but learning about them embracing agentic coding put a big damper on this one's excitement
