In an unusual lawsuit members of an Ohio county sheriff’s department sued over songs and social media posts by Afroman
(Joseph Foreman)
that criticized the guns-drawn 2022 raid on his property, which yielded no charges.

The case claimed the videos were false and caused the officers "severe emotional distress".

But Afroman,
known for his 2000 hit “Because I Got High,”
testified at trial that he had a First Amendment right to mock the officers,
-- particularly after they smashed down his door for ultimately no reason:

“All of this is their fault, and they have the audacity to sue me"

@tofugolem @cdarwin I don't want to think that all cops are bastards, but cops really need to stop being bastards for me to return to thinking that not all cops are bastards.

At the very least they need to start actually facing repurcussions for engaging in blatantly immoral and illegal/should be illegal acts, appropriately compensating victims of their actions, etc. so that maybe I can believe that cops want to be something other than bastards

@notyourfanboy @cdarwin yeah, during his whole saga, he also made this gross music video that was aimed at this female cop that was pretty misogynistic, and also kinda transmisic/queermisic.

I'm glad he won the verdict, and yeah fuck the police, but also lets not put him on a pedestal.

im pretty much in the same boat

im glad he won because otherwise it would have set a dangerous precedent for anyone accused by the police of defamation

but also hes not really a good person and not someone id look up to as a role model
