AIPAC is gloating about "stopping progressives in IL" and claiming its proof that "being pro Israel is good policy and good politics"

But that's a lie. And AIPAC knows its a lie.

AIPAC spent $22M on Illinois primary elections without EVEN ONCE mentioning Israel or AIPAC. Instead they ran as "Elect Chicago Women" or "Progressive Caucus Chicago" because they know just how toxic AIPAC and Israel are. They are not "good politics."

Don't fall for AIPAC propaganda. They are losing and know it.

@QasimRashid

The humanist report expressed his an annoyance that progressives of Illinois could not work collectively to get one of them elected. I think in several districts if one competitor had bowed out and then worked with the more likely winner, the election results would’ve been much better. Hopefully this will be a lesson they learn.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @QasimRashid
And I am once again thinking that single seat elections need to always be ranked choice voting.

@Gurre @GhostOnTheHalfShell @QasimRashid

In states that allow citizen-initiated ballot initiatives (Illinois being one) people could organize to gather the signatures to put ranked choice to a direct vote.

Probably one of the most direct ways illinois voters can influence this. Former campaign groups or organizations like DSA are potentially valuable for this kind of thing as they already have a significant number of people primed to volunteer their time.

Ballot Initiatives in Illinois – State Regs Today

@QasimRashid From the teary President Joe Biden embracing Netanyahu picture that @Deglassco shared earlier, to AIPAC having to move to their fallback position in Illinois this cycle is progress.
@QasimRashid
Also it's not news that elections can be bought if you're pouring in unlimited funding.

@QasimRashid
Ok, but they still won. And spending more money mostly still gets you the win. It's a broken system.

@QasimRashid Kat Abughazaleh gave AIPAC a run for their $$$ she ran a strong campaign . She can definitely win.They spent $20M to defeat her. That says a lot.
