I saw someone mention an alternative app to Duolingo for learning languages, but I can’t recall the name. Any ideas? Something that has Spanish spanish as an alternative would be preferred, as Duolingo only has Mexican spanish.

Airlearn or lingonaut or babbel or busuu or mondly. (lingonaut is still Beta) . Dont know which type of spanish they offer, sorry

@StefanBlasel Lots of options. Have you tried them all?

When learning a new language that has distinct dialects it's useful to know what words are different. I've seen a few cases where Duolingo uses words that are not used in Spain at all and the other person didn't even understand what I was saying. If you don't know that the words differ you have no idea why the other person won't understand what you said.

I have lived a long time in barceloa, where you find lots of latin-american people. . But that different dialect does not create real problems in communication. 85 per cent is still same and hence you can communicate well. I have longer experience with airlearn busuu and Duolingo. Tried as well babadum and clozemaster and lingq non of them i have used for Spanish directly , only indirectly when my mother tongues was not available for italian or Russian.

@StefanBlasel The vast majority of everything I learn is applicable to the entire spanish speaking word. There are some words where the Mexican (I think) version of the word wasn't understood directly in Europe.

We have had fun with Duolingo, but I feel that the learning could be more efficient. Also getting rid of US services and apps is nowadays a priority.
