I'll be honest, I think advertising is just a huge tax avoidance scheme. So little is known to be effective, so much is spent trying to improve it's small amount of efficacy, it seems like it costs a lot for miniscule return. But you don't pay taxes on that money, and perhaps even to your shareholders you look like you are doing something with that money.
