might need to change my dns provider for my websites, i got way more traffic on https://birdcat.cafe and now they're tryna charge me $15 a month for what was $1 a month...

looking at just straight up using porkbun for dns because fuck it we ball
dns provider support: yeah we don't really know what's wrong either
me: awesome i will take my money elsewhere then :)

just swapped over the dns records with 0 downtime 😎

"but taco dns swapping shouldn't take any downtime if done correctly"

let me have this.

due to the nature of there being a few hundred computers between me and the dns update i will check on it in a few hours to ensure all the nameservers have propagated correctly. in theory this should have 0 downtime because the records are identical bc they're bind backups from the last dns provider? the domains that have transferred over are working fine still 🤷
@chirpbirb It's DNS; any success is a victory. You've earned it.
@chirpbirb charging for dns requests will never not confuse me
@arch i was fine with supporting them when it was like $1 a month for all of my shit. now that i got more they want me to start using their cdn. nah man. i see what's going on here
@chirpbirb @arch who the fuck are these jokers?
@colinstu @arch bunny.net, i initially wanted to support them because of the fonts they offer https://fonts.bunny.net

@chirpbirb @arch I wanted to like em just bc of the name.

Well good to know.

@colinstu @arch their service has been good otherwise, i would still recommend them for their font hosting. but otherwise only use 'em if you're planning on using their whole suite basically
@chirpbirb they're what i use and they haven't given me any trouble
@chirpbirb although they don't do wildcard email forwarding, which is one thing i miss
@chirpbirb also you reminded me i wanted to get dynamic dns set up again lol
