i have been using some variant of *nix as my daily os since 1998 or something and, still, every time i run 'tar czf' i yell 'compress zee file!' in a harsh german accent in my head.
@ghorwood It’s the only way!
@ghorwood I should add that it annoys me even as I say it. The pedant in me knows that the “c” doesn’t mean “compress.”
@ghorwood Now when I enable zram, I'll be throwing up horns!!
@numodular does not zram come enabled on modern distros out of the box? ugh. now i have to go check.
@ghorwood Lol, some do. But I just installed MX Linux on a machine and it gave a choice for zram and swap.
@numodular 'zram or swap' as in a file on disk, or 'zram or zswap'?
@ghorwood I believe the former, although I may have missed the z in zswap.

@ghorwood Hmm... A harsh German accent, you say? Then you, Sir are Stephen N. Miller* and I claim my five pounds!🤣

*It's a joke; no offence intended (although some may have been given inadvertently! My bad!

@ghorwood And of course, "eXpose Ze File!" the other direction?
