Edit: I believe I have someone interested in the SPARCstation now, but feel free to register an interest if you like, I'll try to keep track. It makes me happy that there's so much interest in this nice old machine :)

Original post below:

Would you, or anyone you know, be interested in a free SPARCstation 20 and be able to collect it from the South of Scotland in early April? Some more details here: https://mackenga.ro/blog/2026/free-sparcstation-and-more/index.html

Boosts appreciated if you think someone downstream of you might want it.

@radicalabacus I’d pick it up myself if it wasn’t that far away. 🥺
@leosam Yeah, I'd love to keep it myself but I live in Romania and it's just not practical to try to move it that far (especially with the CRT, and I think it would be a shame to separate it from that). I hope someone relatively near the machine can take it while I'm in the area
@radicalabacus Prof. Jim Austin would give it a good home at his Computer Sheds https://share.google/WVZZjCkQqEQ0Ue6Jh

@marshalla99 Noted; I'll not be able to make it to York that week and it's probably not worth the trip for him, but maybe someone is traveling the right way. It's a good option for retro machines if I can't find anyone who can collect. I have a couple of smaller retro machines there too, but they have more sentimental value and are easier to transport so I was planning to keep them; maybe his sheds would be a better home though, I'll ponder that
@radicalabacus @brib uh hello yes I'd be happy to give this a home and am relatively local.
@kestral Great! I'm going to be there for the first week of April (3rd to the 7th I think approximately). I'm a bit wary of saying exactly where in public. There's an email link on my website if you'd like to figure out the details that way (https://mackenga.ro/about/index.html#contact-me) but I'm open to other communication options if you prefer

@radicalabacus email is great, will drop you a line today.

@radicalabacus Glad you found someone interested :)

Can you, perhaps, take a slice of your time to check for fonts inside? It might help a lot!

EN: Hello everyone, whether you're into #retrocomputing or something else! I'm looking for old font files, and if you have an old computer lying around, you might be able to help me out. Some background: I've created a #FOSS library for detecting font files, and I'd like to make this code as universal as possible. In other words, supporting as many fonts as possible across the ages. I've already found quite a few online, but I'm having trouble getting my hands on some. 1/2

@rberthier I'll see what I can do; it's going to be quite a hectic week and I wouldn't want to power the machine up without looking at the capacitors in the power supply (it's been a while and I wouldn't want to break it), but if I get a chance I'll check it out. Failing that I'll mention this to the new owner so they might be able to look into it when they get the machine running
@radicalabacus That's amazing, thanks a lot!
