For the first time it is now possible for parents and guardians to monitor screen time and set limits for child accounts, including bedtime schedules.

ok. go fuck yourself. go to hell you abuse enabling pieces of shit who pushed for this

the foundations for web filtering support has also been added — a backend service that can enforce content filters for child accounts once the user interface is completed in future updates

you fucking wannabe authoritarian censorship tech manufacturers do not belong in FOSS. begone

okay, already pretty maddening, what else is up

this important work to make GNOME more accessible to young people

you’re using “accessibility” as an excuse for this oppression tooling? that’s fucking spicy wow. “we’re enabling parental abuse for accessibility!!!” wow go fuck yourself. i repeat, go burn in hell. idiots like this are why the idea of hell was concieved

fuck it, apologists - come at me and get blocked: #GNOME

@zaire Go outside and touch grass, please.
@zoeyTheWitch block number 3, coming up
@zoeyTheWitch @[email protected] What kind of an argument even is that. If you're so emotionally attached to a shitty desktop that you need to use 13-year-old-level "roast" against anyone criticizing it then I dunno, but it looks like you're the one who could use some grass-touching, hombre
@witix @zoeyTheWitch as opposed to "i repeat, go burn in hell. idiots like this are why the idea of hell was concieved" which is a very normal thing to say /s

@witix @[email protected] Do you think disputing "Parental controls are authoritarian and GNOME developers are literally Hitler" is worth my time

Sounds like someone needs to the see the sun more and spend less time spreading hate :)

@zoeyTheWitch well if it's not worth your time then what are you doing here
literally do anything else

@witix It is very amusing to see the mental gymnastics people will go through to hate GNOME and coat it in psuedo-progressive language.

Again, this is over parental controls, which are completely optional to set up and not forced onto anyone. However, it doesn't seem like that will get through to you or the original poster, so I don't think I have anything else to say now :)

@zoeyTheWitch @witix i was gonna stay out of this one, but what do you think "parental controls" are? like it sounds so creepy to say they aren't forced onto anyone
(implying that the (idealized) child isn't a person)

i say "idealized" because many software packages targeted towards the "parental controls" use case are also often used by abusive partners and stalkers whether or not they are marketed as such.

(noting that the currently added "features" don't have total overlap with such software)

Whether or not you think these "parental control" features are moral, its pretty weird to say that they are "completely optional to set up and not forced onto anyone" when they clearly are able to be applied to another user's account with or without that users's consent, and that user is a person, a someone.
