I think the reason the hobbies TikTok has "ruined" are coloring and books is that those are done mostly by women and women can't do anything without being judged. "You don't need to buy 120 alcohol markers" god forbid a woman do anything.
"Oh, she spent $318 on coloring supplies" yeah? I bought a Steam Deck. Check the price. A PS5 is $500. I've never seen a video like this about video games, or basketball shoes, or hiking equipment.
The point isn't mindless consumption is good, my point is that these videos specifically target hobbies that are mostly done by women.
The backlash to the Analog Bag is also an example of women can't do anything right. Like I heard about it and thought, "oh that's such a good idea", grabbed my tote bag put a couple of coloring books, my pencil case, a book of crosswords, and whatever book I'm currently reading in it. Nice, everything I need to not be on my phone in one convenient and portable place. But god forbid a woman do anything, and now that trend is "dead". Special fuck you to the guy mocking knitting on the bus.
@itzyg haven't heard of analog bags but that sounds like such a good idea
@solanum I'm glad I can bring this idea to people that appreciate it. It's such a good idea
