Digital Sovereignty sounds complex, but it’s simple: It’s the difference between renting your business tools and owning them. When the biggest social media providers change their algorithms or pricing, you shouldn't have to scramble. By using open-source tools, you own the keys to your kingdom.

@craiglambie42 the cost aspect was / is the reason why organisations moved to the big techs cloud. Most people do it for convenience in the private sector.
Own your data is about responsibility. And this comes with a price tag. Companies reduced/removed their IT departments, because the “cloud can do this without the expensive experts” - IT is anyway only a cost factor 🤯 I heard quite often.
Now a new narrative is told: AI is the savior …
@evischreck it is true. But the cost factor is now apparent... Big tech tax, as they sell our souls to the trackers.
@craiglambie42 risk management apparently seems to be not most IT departments strength. Outherwhise they would ave thought more than twice to get into such deep dependencies
@evischreck indeed. Data sovereignty is so important... Now especially. But who knew a fascist would suddenly take over the US government...
@craiglambie42 I always tried to be independent. Maybe the way I grew up shaped this quite a lot. Power can always be abused - and strong dependencies make it really worse.
I’m not as “perfect” or good, as I want to be, but the times actually demonstrate, that it’s time to let go convenience and strengthen independence.
Good to know, that I’m not alone 🤙🏻
@evischreck absolutely! I love what the #EU are doing to support that too.
