1/n Notes on #UAP Discussions : In this discussion with #EricWeinstein and #EricDavis Weinstein indicates that he just canโ€™t believe that the military did not scale up (reference the #Manhatten Project) and recruit top #Physics talent for classified retrieval and reverse engineering programs -that they could be โ€œthat dumbโ€.
Oy. Extant evidence suggests they were even dumber.
The stranger thing is a certainโ€ฆ

2/nโ€ฆsomewhat inelastic view of #GeneralRelativity , along with preferred avoidance of #Engineering.
Those likely to be recruited into a reverse engineering program setting are tasked with giving data on craft and observables context. #GR gives you a set of bounds at the origin , a starting point. In one approach to fitting for the data and observables you need your vehicle to become effectively massless. If you find a path to that youโ€™ve not โ€œ broken relativity โ€œ. Gravity will still be there...
3/n...it's understandable that Weinstein is already keen on exploring the technical challenges. He also has no reservations declaring allergies and categorical dismays, but then launches into what amounts to an inverse problem in effective field theory. The mathematical approach and tensor algebra are not where most physicists would start.It's...interesting.
In the end we have to recall the stigma and taboo attached to the subject matter are only recently starting to abate across the #Sciences-
4/n...Researchers are recognizing that this is real now. They're seeing colleagues here and there that are taking chances, breaking ground and making progress. The fear of ridicule is shrinking. Fear of being left behind is the new replacement singer
Late addendum to tha last post in the thread : The disparagement of sometimes controversial members of the legacy community is not something I expected to see here. As host Jesse Michael's did attempt some course correction. None of that is on him. In the end the judgemental commentary had nothing whatsoever to do with the technical discussion. It just wasn't a good look
