The ideas of the LEAP Manifesto are more relevant and factually supported than ever. The hard end of fossil fuels is coming faster than was forecast in 2016, and governments will be unable to stop or delay it. Unsubsidized renewable sources will undercut subsidised fossil fuels and that will be that.

The sooner political leaders admit it and lead, the better prepared Alberta can be.

Avi Lewis stands by past activism as he's criticized for 'politics of subtraction' | CBC News

In the closing days of the NDP leadership race, Avi Lewis's past activism has resurfaced. But the front-runner's campaign is standing by his past work and a decade-old vision that's been both criticized within the New Democrats' ranks and weaponized by their opponents.

This makes me more supportive of Lewis, not less.

@johnefrancis I love him even more for not backing down.

Pundits who think an outspoken lefty can't win support never heard of Bernie Sanders.

@TheresaReason @johnefrancis Avi Lewis has absolutely smashed all fundraising records for an NDP leadership contest. His events have one "little" problem. They're very crowded! A rather nice "problem" to have!

@johnefrancis

Indeed. Although certain political leaders will prioritize and support fossil fuel revenue & profits before the greater good for Canadians/society.

@johnefrancis #CBC's neoliberal cheerleading, and refusal to seriously report on #climateBreakdown and #inequality is the real story here.
@johnefrancis I think it's hilarious that his opponents think it's a point against him that he wants to fight big oil and he's been consistent on that. Desperate. I'm starting to think it's a 1st ballot victory. Knock wood.
