It feels like software engineering is undergoing the same sort of revolution as manufacturing.

Why make something locally when you can import an inferior product from china for a tenth of the cost?

Why write well designed software when you can vibe code together some slopware that's just good enough?

Though if this tend keeps continuing then we should reach a point where being able to program is going to be a rare and highly sought after skill.

Like knowing how to program COBOL on IBM mainframes is currently a very highly paid job
