@sarah company is winding down entirely. Entire team will be laid off next month. As we start a new company, we can work as contractors (paid in equity rather than cash) until we have revenue and can restart payroll.

So it's not that the company will stop paying us. They merely won't exist. And the new venture has no cash with which to pay yet.

It's super risky IMO so I need to have an alternate path.
