I wonder if we'll ever see Waiting Room signs that depict the person sitting there staring at their phone. Or whether it'll always be a book, the way the Phone Call icon is still a telephone receiver and the Save icon is still a floppy disk.

@CiaraNi

I remember Eva used the term skeuomorph for this kind of thing

@MargaretD I remember that too. It's a great word. I hope someone reading a book in a waiting room doesn't strictly qualify. It's not as common, but not yet a thing of the past.

@CiaraNi

I'm nearly always the only one with a physical book, in the waiting-rooms I frequent

@MargaretD There's still usually at least one of us, at least. It's not entirely archaic. Or maybe we are.

@MargaretD
Ha! Me, too.

@CiaraNi

@wannabemystiker @MargaretD It often occurs to me that other people in the waiting room, on the train, etc may also be reading, but are invisibly reading an ebook or listening to an audiobook. Print books are just more visible.
