The first AirPods Max were released in December 2020. They remained unchanged until September 2024, when USB-C replaced the Lightning port. An update a mere eighteen months later is downright speedy.

(My first-gen AirPods Max sit effectively unused next to my bed.)

@JasonAnthonyGuy @jagsworkshop The last product I bought on staff purchased before I retired from Apple was the original AirPods Max. I used them a few times until the AirPods Pro 2 came along. I don’t even know where my AirPods Max are but my AirPods Pro (now v3) are in my pocket ready to go every day.

@ctb31 I should probably pick up AirPods Pro 3, but I still have an unopened v2 I bought from when I retired, as a backup.

@JasonAnthonyGuy @jagsworkshop AirPods Pro 3 are way better at noise cancellation than the AirPods Pro 2 and I mean WAY better. However in my opinion they are much more uncomfortable due to the tighter fitting silicon grommets.

@ctb31 Hm. considering my travel use, maybe I should give the 3s a try and see if they fit my ears.
