Yesterday I had Cerrone. Today I have Soccio. From the Montreal disco and electronic scene in the 70s and 80s. He started making electronic music as Kebekelectrik (Quebec electric, but with K to hint at Kraftwerk).

His big disco hit was Dancer, but he also did the remarkable song "Les Visiteurs" (also released in English as "The visitors" ) which got good airplay in Montreal.

Gino Soccio "Face to face" #vinyl #album on RFC records, 1982. Remember is a standout track. #disco #electronic #music

@f_dion I feel dumb for not thinking that Canada would've had a disco music scene. Cool

@giflian

The scene in #Montreal was probably second only to #NYC

At one point there were over 50 #disco clubs in Montreal...

There was a lot of disco music produced, all kinds of bands. In French, English, bilingual.

Even cultural icons like Gilles Vigneault saw his music recycled into disco form ("Mon pays" by Patsy Galant).

There was even a "learn to play hockey" (or something like that) disco album with Guy Lafleur (NHL hockey / Montreal Canadiens legend).

@giflian I think Lime reached #1 in the US with "Your Love"

@f_dion I do know who Guy Lafleur is. Somehow nobody ever told me he put out a disco album.
