During the 2024 election, Russian intelligence secretly worked with an agent, Alexander Smirnov, who planted false information with the FBI, claiming Joe Biden had corrupt ties to Ukraine.

The FBI figured out Smirnov was lying, and he was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

Now Trump’s Justice Department is helping Smirnov get a retrial, which would then allow Trump to get the case dismissed.

This isn't about the guy in prison, it's Trump putting pressure on people his state controls completely to get them to give us a story that exonerates Him. He wants us to believe the elections were rigged and this guy was a victim because it casts doubt on Trump's own guilt if people accept that as true.
