@allianceradio it was a great net, but was I the longest licensed amateur with 1991? That makes me feel old.
@DragonBard @allianceradio
You're a youngster! I was first licensed in 1981 (in the UK)

@MikeFromLFE @allianceradio awesome! I've been inactive so much of late, the hobby often feels entirely different to me.

I remember having to learn all about tubes and such, and that tech is nearly gone.

@DragonBard @allianceradio
I was QRT for many years until the covid lockdowns and when I came back almost everything had changed!
I've embraced digimodes on HF because they mean that with limited power and a 'wet string' antenna I can work pretty much all over the world.
The strangest thing has been how 2m & 70cm are so quiet now.

@MikeFromLFE @DragonBard @allianceradio Depends on where you are at I guess? 2m and 440 in my area (mid-NH\ME) is very active, especially for low population states. The only thing lacking is sufficient Winlink RMS coverage - packet or VARA - for 2m. Linking to DMR, Allstar, YSF, and Echolink is a bonus.
