@weirdunits as a seasoned sysadmin of decades experience I can confirm that blood sacrifices per hard disk are a real thing. If you don't have a goat or cockerel to sacrifice, the Demons of SCSI would happily take human blood, on the sharp edges of the drive cage that were designed specifically for that purpose.
