I miss the days when NFTs were the stupidest thing I'd ever heard of.
@guffo …and that wasn’t even that long ago! 🤪🤦‍♂️

@guffo it didn't last long before I found out about DAOs - https://www.investopedia.com/tech/what-dao/

If you thought NFTs were dumb, imagine running your corporation/organization with blockchain voting!

If that sounds ridiculous to you, and you question how that could ever work, you're right! They don't.

Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO): Definition, Purpose, and Example

A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is a system developed to distribute decision-making, management, and entity ownership.

@tezoatlipoca @guffo

It looks like some crypto-bro read Marx books while high af and tried to apply it while keeping capitalism at a maximum. Wtf ?! :D

@tezoatlipoca @guffo

My head hurt after two paragraphs. Holy shit.

@guffo I dunno, the stupidity of NFTs still hold up for me. It’s literally owning numbers associated with a thing that gives you no special rights or uses to that thing. The purest possible grift. Does anything really beat that?

AI is infuriating, and causes lots of harm, but I don’t think its main vice is that its a dumb idea.

@Zoonpolitikon @guffo Yeah, as annoying as the AI hype is, the technology at least does something where NFTs were obviously, colossally pointless. Even if AI is worse all round, it's not as dumb.

@Zoonpolitikon @guffo You don't even own numbers. You cannot apply intellectual property regulations to 42 or pi.

You own a number in a specific system that assigns numbers.

@guffo It's never a good thing when the actual inventor of the tech publicly proclaims "Don't use it! That's not what I was trying to do.". https://www.anildash.com/2021/11/14/i-didnt-invent-nfts-but-we-dont-really-have-any-other-way-to-talk-about-tech/

@guffo haven't seen a f****** Monkey with a hat in five years.
@guffo if the day wasnt dark enough: imagine what will come next!
@guffo Stupid people can always scrape further down the barrel.
@guffo ooh.. good ol'times. such laughs.. at least it was funny.
@guffo I miss the days when Crystal Clear Pepsi was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard of.
@TheMNWolf @guffo I actually liked Crystal Pepsi. Was it just Pepsi without the coloring? I seem to remember it tasting a bit different.
@sysop408 @guffo it tasted like watered down Pepsib to me, moreso than even diet Pepsi, and I swear it didn't even have as much fizz to it.

@TheMNWolf maybe that's why it appealed to me. Regular Pepsi was always too sweet to me.

For a few years Pepsi Max was perfect. Then they reduced the caffeine content and it became too sweet again. Apparently, the caffeine is what cuts down on the sweet flavor.

@guffo

@sysop408 @guffo I definitely agree with you on Pepsi being too sweet, but I prefer Coca-Cola anyway 😁
@guffo Tamagotchi. Can we go back to that?
@Giliell @guffo hey at least Tamagotchi's taught us a sense of resp- oh no, it died. 🥲
@guffo I’d like to see it being the stupidest thing ever again, but there is so much competition now.

@guffo

Is there already NFT-as-a-service, where you can only rent the NFTs? With absurd price of course.

@guffo @wyatt I don’t even remember what an NFT is. Non-functional token?

@sarah
Something fungi something?

I do remember the name
Non fungible token
But no way do I understand it - it seems *really* stupid

@guffo There's so much more competition now... 😢
@guffo
I miss the days when electing Ronald Reagan for president was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard of.
@guffo aren’t they still ? Haha.
@guffo now it's people claiming AI will make you $1m+
Or the Fediverse…
@guffo I miss the days when Microsoft Bob was the stupidest thing I ever heard of
