If you haven’t watched this before, you should. The brilliant Carl Sagan testifying before the United States Congress in 1985 on #ClimateChange.

We should have listened then. Will we now?

Climate change isn’t an on & off switch. It’s an exponential dial. https://youtu.be/Wp-WiNXH6hI?si=pWQ4VgYpSkA9NQx5

@BrentToderian note how people listened back then. Mobile devices have shorten our attention span.

Sagan and Carlin are dearly missed.

@BrentToderian That really was worth watching.

It's very interesting to see how the USA Congress was taking this issue very seriously in 1985. Carl Sagan, who was universally respected, gave such a clear and accurate analysis of the physical problems as well as the political problems; and all present gave their full attention to the issue.

There is stark contrast to our current times, in which physical reality has somehow become controversial. We now have more data, stronger models, and direct personal experience of the consequences that were predicted half a century again. But a small subset of people with a disproportional amount of wealth have been able to wield their influence to stall action. They do this for their personal self-enrichment at the expense of the all known life in the universe - i.e. life on Earth.
