Writers, is it frowned upon to edit your #Ao3 stories? Because I didn't know what I was doing when I started #writing, (the downside of pantsing) and now I've got what I'm hoping is a better plan.
It's the same continuing story, with details tweaked a bit. I would likely just upload the new version and do my best to shove the old versions in a corner.

@oneluckyelf i don't see why not. If you're worried, just leave it in the notes that you made some changes.

Hell, I completely rewrote the start of a story I had published under a new story completely.

I've noticed typos in #AO3 stories years after I posted them, and yeah, I go back and edit. It's not a problem at all.

If you did a *lot* of restarts, and posted them all as separate works, it might start to feel spammy. But nobody should complain if you just do one.

@oneluckyelf
I think that's the best solution to it. It's very subjective what we like, sometimes, so as a reader I might be sad if an author substantially edited one of my fave fics, losing the original.
But if you provide an alternative, edited version, everyone can check out both, and then switch their bookmarks; or not.
