Things I learned today:

First U.S president to advocate for universal health care was Theodore Roosevelt (R).

Next president to try getting it established was Eisenhower (R).

Even Nixon (R) tried (unsuccessfully) to expand coverage for health care.

It’s only in the last fifty years that GOP has framed taking care of people’s health and well being, irregardless of income/wealth, as godless socialism.

Information about Heather Cox Richardson's book, Democracy Awakening, and tour details

Next Dem nominee for POTUS could do worse (a lot) than bringing Cox Richardson on as an advisor. Crucial historical lens and excellent plain language explainer.
@xankarn
That's very interesting to know.
