@jonathankoren @stacescases2.bsky.social Mahan took voter-approved money for building more affordable housing and diverted it into 1) criminalizing homeless people so that wealthy techies don't have to see them and 2) contracts for his allies to put up shoddy temporary shelters as mass encampments and claim that he had 'ended homelessness'. At the same time he is giving away multi-million tax breaks to developers of luxury housing and exempting them from requirements to include affordable units. Also his shelters cost a lot each year to continue operating, which has pushed our City into a budget deficit.
I am especially steamed about this because I helped volunteer knocking on doors for the original ballot measure that was supposed to fund building new affordable housing.
