This is amazing. DHS bought a warehouse in a city called Social Circle, Georgia. When the city council asked DHS how they planned to use the warehouse, DHS refused to answer.

So, the city cut off water and sewer services and put a lock on the water meter, and said that services will remain off “until ICE indicates how water and sewer to the facility will be served without exceeding the limited infrastructure capacity.”

Outstanding. We need more of this! This is how we stop fascism.

@QasimRashid This is how we *delay* fascism.

Bureaucracy can't stop fascism because it requires the fascists to play by the rules, which fascists don't do.

There is no solution to fascism that doesn't involve violence because this is the only language fascists understand.

This was the lesson of WWII - a lesson the West still hasn't learned.

@blueorchestra Well, taking the edge off of capitalism seems to have worked pretty well for decades after WW2. If you can stop rich capitalist's influence on politicians without using violence, you might not even need violence at all.

(Fully agreed on the "play by the rules" part.)

@fennek And how do we stop the influence of capitalists on politicians when the politicians themselves are capitalists?

The ruling class gave us concessions during the Cold War to stave off the allure of socialist ideology. They then rescinded those same concessions when they got sick of them - even before the Cold War was over.

The system favors capitalists because it was designed by and for capitalists. There's no way to 'fix' that because it's a feature; not a bug. A system is what it does.
