Crankshaft Crossing & Teakettle Junction, Death Valley.

I'm guessing someone spun a bearing at crankshaft crossing & got stuck. Although, for Model Ts, guys would simply cut a chunk off of their leather belt to use as a temporary replacement bearing.

The name of Teakettle Junction, on the other hand, remains a mystery. Maybe some British people lost their tea kettle there?

What do you think?

@elaterite

Interesting spots. I'd like to know more about the people passing through, and the history.

@forestfern Yes, they are interesting spots--beautiful country! As far as people go, first it was Natives for thousands of years. Then along came the occasional explorer. After that some white emigrants from the east. Then prospectors, literally the kind with burros. Then various mining corporations, most notably mining for borax but also other precious metals including gold. Then came the tourists. @elaterite Thank you, Bob! I'm glad you added your brief history -- I'm looking forward to reading the various pages on the link you provided. I've never been there or in any area near there, so it's pretty much all new history to me. Thank you.
