some time ago I got a HTC Nexus 9 tablet while visiting my brother
it's dead, so I figured I might give fixing it a shot
currently not powering on, front panel also seems to have air pockets in it?
I do think that the fact that I can pry off the back panel to get into the internals by just using my fingernails is very neat
my current semi-educated guess is that the battery is dead
also, there are bubbles inside the LCD assembly
not sure what causes this (if anyone knows, do enlighten me), but I feel like I might need to replace the front panel assembly (I can't find a standalone screen)
ordered a replacement battery that's hopefully good and a replacement front panel assembly that hopefully doesn't have bubbles
we'll see how it goes
my current conclusion is that the battery is completely dead, had this happen to a Samsung Xcover 3 I had that had a dead battery, it refused to boot at all
still need to find a multimeter to confirm my line of thought, but it's the most plausible scenario
and I was right!
the tablet is in a weird bootloop now, but I decided to wipe cache and see if that fixes it
front panel assembly should arrive on Friday if nothing goes wrong
it's fixed
haven't glued in the battery yet, waiting for the front panel assembly that will actually come tomorrow
front panel assembly arrived, attempted to transfer the internals
thinking that the LCD connector is a ZIF flip-up connector, I tried to pry it up
now the LCD is ruined and I need to order a new USB daughterboard
fun!
ordered a replacement USB module and two loudspeakers
should arrive by April
