@metin In our body it’s called cancer!

@metin

Indeed, a focus on growth is the definition of cancer.

@albertcardona @philomelos Yes, I frequently think of the great quote by Agent Smith in The Matrix, in which he compares human behavior patterns to cancer.
@metin Capitalism is unsustainable since it requires constant growth and increasing revenue/profit and sooner or later you run out of customers or hit other limits of the physical world. One way or another capitalism will come to an end. On the current trajectory it will be due to catastrophic climate and environmental change
@fionasboots Indeed. And as the most greedy, egocentric people in the world are also the most powerful and protected people, I don't see a timely change happen to prevent the disasters.
@metin @fionasboots The growth required by capitalism still works because the wealthy continue to profit by exploiting the poor and the environment. However, we have already entered a digital form of capitalism that allows for forms of growth independently of many of our planet's limits. Therefore, even if we manage to reach a time in which we no longer have to exploit the environment and can rely on renewable energy sources, I fear that capitalism will still persist πŸ™
