Oh god y'all, I just remembered taxes, and the filing thereof. A task which I must do, but approach with dread and hate.

I despise doing a task that could be easily automated, saving hundreds of thousands of personhours nationally.

I don't mind *paying* taxes. What I mind is a system that already knows all the numbers making me track down bits of paper, when they could instead just send a form with how much we made, how much we paid, and how much we owe or how much we get rebated.

It's the 21st goddamn century. Grrr!

What makes me so angry about the tax code, is that there are so many carve outs that if you know how to do it, you can get your rate well below 5%, but only if you're either wealthy or very clever (with good attorneys).

@MissConstrue Preparing for our #tax filing, I just pulled up the Notices to see if Trump or DOGE did away with Obama era rule that makes certain income tax free for certain health care workers.

Luckily, it still does. If they had done away with it, we would owe an additional $12K in income taxes, self-employment (FICA), etc. #USPol
