@newsguyusa The most astonishing thing about this is that Old Newt apparently got this idea from a satirical letter.
The letter's last paragraph said something to the
effect that its views don't apply to anyone with brain cells!
Newt is a long time science fiction fan. It seems that in his dotage he can't distinguish scientific fact from fiction.

Newt Gingrich, like Trump, is a skilled hand at ragebait and clickbait that will get boosted & amplified.

Unfortunately, nonsense like this is often repeated often enough that it becomes part of Republican dogma & billionaire policy platforms like Project 2025.

There's likely some Israeli billionaire still promoting the Ben Gurion canal.
