South #Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard has unveiled the South Yorkshire People’s Network, a new brand and long-term vision for the region’s public #transport. The plan aims to create a joined-up, reliable and affordable system serving every community, with people at the centre of decisions. Backed by £1.5bn investment, it includes £630m to renew the tram network and £350m to reform buses. Trams have already returned to public control, with buses due to follow next year. Plans also include simplified ticketing, new trams, improved rail links and greater support for walking, cycling and e-bikes. The new branding, inspired by the region’s industrial heritage, will gradually appear on stops, vehicles, staff uniforms and online platforms, replacing Travel South Yorkshire. Coppard said the programme aims to rebuild a public transport network that connects people to jobs, education and opportunities.
