Yesterday i had some time to draft a pattern (per hand😮 rare indeed).
I never made or tried to make my underwear myself, but it always interested me.
I also hardly ever sew with knitted fabric, i always prefer woven fabric (maybe sometimes with a bit of stretch).
So this will be an experiment.

My first try will be a simple slip. I think the front looks good, but i struggled a bit with the lower curve of the back...we will see.

I used a swimsuit pattern (Sandpiper by Helen's Closet) and used leftover cotton jersey for my first attempt, enclosing foldover elastic all the way around. I liked the final effort, but they were more like "bloomers", which we used to wear on Phys Ed days when I was a kid. Last week, I made a low-cut version with Merino wool jersey, and I kept the elastic on the outside. I've worn them for the last 2 days, and I walked outside for 40 minutes each day. They were comfortable, and they don't smell this morning, so I'll be making more. I need to get more foldover elastic, though. I won't make more with cotton, which gets soggy with sweat.
Good luck with your make. It's pretty simple once you get started. Just don't pull on the stretch fabric as you sew.

I'm also planning to sew with foldover elastic as well, but some use kind of special elastic for underwear ( i can't remember the name of it). Good that i wasn't off with that.
Which thread did you use? I have some "Bauschgarn" ( google translates it into bulk thread but that sounds weird), which is for knitted fabrics, so i probably will use that.
I have cotton jersey slips ( bought) that i love, but it is really hard to get that kind of fabric.

I nearly always sew with Gutermann all-purpose thread, and I've never had any problems. I've usually sewn with a small zig-zag stitch for knits, but my new machine has a 3-stitch stretch stitch that has worked well. I was initially nervous about sewing knits, but I found it to be generally easier than wovens because there is no need for seam finishing, and the negative ease makes the stitch lines and cutting a lot more forgiving. I hope you love your new undies when they're done. I've found a brand of readymade underwear that I like and can afford, but I thought that Merino undies would be very helpful for active pursuits. So far, I'm very happy with the ones I made.
