Anon OpinIf you vote for local councillors based on national issues then you're an absolute clown. Councillors that try to get elected off the back of national issues are even worse.

The others tend to be selective in what they do, if anything.
Locally you can't get a response from ANY councillors, so system broken.
Independents are rare and probably the only ones worth bothering with; if they stand and get elected.
By-Elections for Westminster are popularity polls, not locals.
Hence the current reduction in councils, distancing from the electorate and destruction of accountability / access.
