Last Thursday, the #nopalantirinthenhs South Yorkshire campaign organised a demonstration outside of Sheffield Town Hall to coincide with @sheffieldcitycouncil 's Health Scrutiny Sub-Committee meeting where they were discussing the local NHS's decision to adopt #Palantir's #FederatedDataPlarform.
It included speakers from @sheffieldgreens #doctorsforthenhs @antiraidssheffield @sheffieldpsc @healthworkers4palestine and @medact_org 1/3
Campaigners and members of the public then attended the meeting to give public statements and ask questions to the sub-committee in relation to Palantir's involvement in our NHS. From increases in capacity for surveillance and discriminatory policing, to the exacerbation of the hostile environment, the company's alleged role in the genocide of the Palestinian people, and the privatisation of the NHS - these concerns were all highlighted. 2/3
Despite being asked to attend by the sub-com to face Qs on Palantir's software, not a single representative from nhssyicb sheffieldhospitals, sheffieldchildrens, sheffieldpartnership turned up to listen to the concerns of patients and health workers.
Nonetheless, the councillors showed broad support of the campaign and were united (Labour, Lib Dems, and Greens) in opposition to Palantir being involved in our NHS!
