I've been reading more and I still can't find any reason why this needed to be done. Like even if I put on a realpolitik hat. And we've reached the limit of what can be done without the oh so infamous "boots on the ground"

I’m most scared that on the US side this is driven by End Times Christian nut jobs in the administration who won’t let this end until they get their “final battle.”
