@alexandra i was 'up' in the southern highlands of sydney, and they do get frost in winter up there and proper weather and the roses seem to quite enjoy that (in comparison to stinky humid sydders just 100kms down the hill road)
@Heliograph I did wonder how such a beautiful bloom managed there, in the Down Under.
I forget just how huge Australia is.

ozeng@alexandra @Heliograph that’s South America.. the close proximity shows on regular projections too but nobody bothers to look way down the bottom of the map.
This is the standard map taught in Australian schools*. It’s an equal-area projection so it gives a realistic sense of scale:
