It's o.k.; he wears a diaper.
@ianbetteridge most amazingly, he expects China of all places to clean up his mess for him.
And all suddenly he is nice to Starmer again. Not that it matters, it's not as if the Royal Navy has any patrol ships to send, those two literal showboat aircraft carriers sucked out all the oxygen out of the Navy budget.
@fazalmajid That would be the China that's basically decided to wean itself off oil by increasing renewables and nuclear (up to 40% of total electricity generation) while also heavily investing in electric vehicles (up from 6% of sales in 2020 to 48% in 2024). EVs displaced 1m barrels a day of oil (and China imports most of that).
From China's perspective, the ask from Trump is almost insulting. Deploy Chinese naval assets into a conflict zone created by Washington, to protect oil supplies disrupted by Washington, to bail out a US president who simultaneously runs a trade war against Beijing?
Yeah, that's going to fly.
@ianbetteridge Indeed.
It's relatively easy to wean yourself off oil for ground transportation and industry, but gas is also used for fertilizer production and half the world population depends on this:
