Young me wanted a very smart house. Wanted voice activated everything, robots and AI assistance, and what not. Pretty much wanted a Jarvis like in Iron Man.
Current me wants switches, levers or knobs in everything, no devices that has a mic in it, and keep your AI smart devices 200 meters away from me.

Me too, I went from buying different smart devices all the time to try them out to angrily cutting them off from the network.
I believe it's a matter of implementation. I don't want smart devices that need to phone home every few seconds, or push ads, or become part of a botnet. I want a smart home, not a surveillance system that's monitoring me.
