A lot of the devices we use in the kitchen (Thermomix, microwaves, dishwashers, coffeemakers etc) use complete operating systems and embedded computers nowadays, often with internet connectivity for who knows what. So. Will we soon see mandated fingerprint readers for age verification or will a simple switch with "18+" be sufficient to continue to cook and clean? ;)

@jwildeboer
My gas stove and oven are completely chipless. Any nearby children are safe to mess with that stuff.
@ozzelot @jwildeboer I take it you never cook long cut up pieces of potato?

@jwdt
I do not.

(But now I'm interested. What does that have to do with anything?)
@jwildeboer

@ozzelot @jwildeboer chips (fries in USA). Sounds like it truly is chipless then. :)

@jwdt
Hah, I didn't even think about that. Good one. My English mostly comes from the US variant.

(I was like "what makes potatoes inherently less safe than other meals?"
And I often think of "cook" as boiling, frying is a different activity in my head. Possibly a philosophical Czechism.)
@jwildeboer

@jwdt
I might synthesize this into boiling long potato prisms and naming them French cooks. That will surely catch on.
