I’ve been asking AI about the likelihood of civil war for most of the current administration. Not because I trust it, just as a random data point along the way. Every single time I’ve asked, odds have gotten more likely.

If I ask an AI about any likelihood, it will most often say yes. Those things are built with a heavy and dangerous level of confirmation bias and should not be used as any basis of thought.

As an individual data point an AI response is essentially worthless. What I was gauging was the change in response over time. LLMs are statistical engines with creators who put large thumbs on the scales of the statistics. By seeing the change over time, you see what they are weighting, as well as what overcomes the weighting.
