So got my bike back from the "Vet" (local bike repair shop) excellent service as per usual.

Prognosis ok(ish) two new sets of bearings but I do, ultimately, need two new wheels built.

Unfortunately I'm using Tannis puncture proof tyres and he couldn't source the right sized wheels for my existing tyres. He says when my tyres are worn, we'll have a conversation about options. Possibly going tubeless with a decent sealant.

So just the bearings and a general service for the moment.

About to take her out for a jaunt. Haven't cycled in well over 10 months due to ongoing spinal issues. So won't be cycling far. Probably just to the nearest big parkland / common area and/or along the Wandle trail.

@PeteLittle why new wheels instead of wheel repair? What's so broken? I suppose if the hub and rim have both suffered damage you may as well replace.

@adrinux he mentioned something about the hub. His (almost) exact words were "who last serviced the bike as it looks like they've been bashed with a sledgehammer?"

I'm not technically minded for all things mechanical. I'm very much in the school of WD40 for things that shouldn't move but don't and duct tape for things that move but shouldn't XD

My skills are in software and electronics I know very little about mechanics and engineering.

@PeteLittle yeah, technically the hub can be replaced, but it requires wheeling building skills and time. I've done it, but if you're paying someone else it's probably as costly as buying a new wheel.
