The Democratic led Virginia House of Delegates has passed a bill legalizing ​“balcony solar” by a unanimous, bipartisan vote. The Senate, where Democrats also have a majority, had already approved the legislation.

The new law will make Virginia the second state in the US, after Utah, to treat solar panels like an appliance you can buy at a store and set up yourself — on your balcony, in your yard, or anywhere the sun shines on your property.
